Henson AL13 Double-Edge Safety Razor — Jet Black with 5 Blades
Product description
Engineered precision: Developed using decades of high-precision metalworking experience, this double-edge safety razor addresses common sources of shaving irritation—unsupported blade edges and excessive blade flex—by altering how the blade is supported and angled against the skin.
30° cutting geometry: The head is shaped so the blade meets skin at an approximate 30-degree angle, a compromise that favors both cutting efficiency and comfort. That geometry reduces tugging, lowers the chance of razor burn, and gives predictable performance across the face and body.
Blade support and free-end length: Instead of allowing a gradual bend across the blade width, the razor clamps the blade and creates a focused bend near the cutting edge. The short free end keeps the blade firmly supported close to the cutting edge, minimizing flex and undesirable vibration so you can shave with fewer passes.
Open-channel head for easy cleaning: The head features wide, unobstructed channels that let soap, lather, and cut hairs rinse away quickly. This makes maintenance simple—just run water through the head to clear debris—helpful for both beginners and routine use.
Materials, finish and what’s in the box: Constructed from a durable aluminum alloy with a jet-black finish, the AL13 balances corrosion resistance and lightweight handling. The package includes the razor and five double-edge blades so you can start shaving right away. The design is intended to be reusable and plastic-free; replacement blades are recyclable, and the razor is built for long-term use.

Promising first shave
Tried it once and was impressed. It handled a dry pass better than my other razor and gave a close result with little irritation. Very lightweight—I'd prefer more heft—but the open channels make rinsing simple. A pricier option, but it feels well made.

Nearly perfect for sensitive skin
Returned to DE shaving after many years and this razor is superb. The machining holds the blade steady with no chatter, giving irritation-free shaves even ATG. My tip: let your cream sit for a couple minutes to soften the beard first. Highly recommended.

Very efficient, slightly untraditional
This razor gives a clean, efficient shave with minimal irritation—currently using Astra blades. My only reservations are that it feels too easy compared with classic, heavier razors and is very light. Still, it’s an excellent option for someone switching from disposables.

Too mild for my coarse beard
I’ve used DE razors for a decade and hoped this would replace my Edwin Jagger. My facial hair is thick and stiff, and this head just isn’t aggressive enough for a single-pass clean. It’s comfortable, but I still need more aggressive hardware for my hair type.

Finally a safety razor that reduced nicks
I’d tried several higher-end razors but kept getting nicked until I found this head design. It’s well machined and very forgiving, delivering close shaves without the frequent cuts I experienced before. Great choice for those tired of cartridge costs and waste.

Mild head may disappoint some
If your hairs are very coarse, this model didn’t give me the close finish I wanted even with sharp blades. I liked the feel and build, and might try the medium/aggressive variant later, but this mild head wasn’t the right fit for my beard.

Excellent pairing with the right blade
The razor’s mild head performs exceptionally when matched with a sharper blade. With a very aggressive blade I get fewer passes, less drag and virtually no razor burn. Beware: its lightness tempts you to press; shave gently as you would with any safety razor to avoid cuts.

Rugged simplicity, deeply satisfying
I moved from cartridge systems and didn’t expect much until I tried this. It’s straightforward and reliable—no fragile parts, just unscrew, insert a blade and tighten. The daily ritual is now more rewarding and produces a superior finish. It feels built to last.

Very, very good!
Outstanding design—bending the blade reduces chatter and cuts, making it easy to use. My only minor gripe is the light aluminum feel; I’d like a heavier steel option, but performance is excellent.

Great gateway into traditional wet shaving
After years of disposables this was a Father’s Day gift and it’s been a revelation. The longer handle and aluminum balance made the switch easy. It’s comfortable and forgiving, helped by proper prep (cream, brush, and an alum block after). For many transitioning from cartridges this is a very approachable option.

Free from multi-blade cartridges
Excellent—much better than I expected. I switched from a three-blade cartridge and wanted less waste and lower blade cost. My beard is moderate and my skin sensitive; the mild AL13 version gave a smooth, irritation-free shave right away with no cuts. Easy to rinse and well packaged.

Impressive transition from cartridges
I’d been wanting to try safety razors for sensitive skin and thick beard—this worked great. A single sharp blade glides more smoothly, needs fewer passes, and minimizes pressure. The aluminum finish is light but effective; overall a very satisfying switch.
