14x14-Inch 1/4-Inch Pizza Baking Steel for Oven & Grill
Product description
This baking steel is built from 1/4-inch mild steel and measures 14 inches by 14 inches by 0.25 inches. Its heavy gauge construction resists warping and provides exceptional thermal mass; steel conducts heat many times better than traditional ceramic stones and stores more energy, so you get higher, more consistent baking temperatures inside a standard oven.
The surface arrives pre-seasoned with vegetable oil and is heat-cured so it’s ready to use right away. With continued use the metal will develop a darker protective patina that enhances release and corrosion resistance. The steel’s thickness absorbs and distributes heat evenly across the cooking surface, helping crusts brown and toppings finish without soggy centers.
It’s double-sided: one flat face for general baking tasks and a reverse side formed with a moat to capture excess oils and fats. That moat keeps grease from running into the oven or causing flare-ups on a grill, making the steel useful for oiled vegetables, fatty cuts of meat, or searing.
Designed for residential ovens, pizza ovens, and grills, this versatile baking steel can be used for pizzas, artisan breads, pastries, pancakes, roasted vegetables, or for searing steaks. The package consists of the single 14x14x0.25-inch steel plate, pre-seasoned and ready to integrate into your home cooking routine. Manufactured with an emphasis on durability and thermal performance, it’s intended to deliver professional-style results at home.
Pros
- Fast, even heat transfer for crisp crusts
- Durable 1/4-inch steel that resists warping
- Dual-sided with an oil-catching moat
Cons

VerdictA solid, professional-style baking surface that brings oven-grade thermal performance to a home range or backyard grill. The 1/4-inch steel absorbs and holds heat far better than ceramic stones, producing crisp bottoms and quick cooks. It’s heavy and requires basic seasoning care, but its durability, even heating and dual-sided oil-capturing moat make it a great upgrade for anyone who wants restau

Brings my grill back to life
Perfect dimensions and thickness for my setup. With my thermometer I dial in temps precisely. Turned my old Weber into a searing surface, evens out hotspots. I use it for fish, burgers, steak—very pleased.

Heavy but worth it
Very heavy, but the best kitchen add-on I’ve picked up. Cauliflower crust pizza crisped faster and came out better than regular dough.

Better pizza and bread baking
Fits my oven well. Produces a much better-cooked pizza bottom and helps when baking bread in a pan.

My go-to baking surface
I bake cookies, biscuits, pizza—everything. It stays in my oven and prevents soggy bottoms whether I place items directly on the steel or use a pan.

Initial packaging/cleanup hiccup
Haven’t cooked on it yet. Followed the first-use cleaning instructions and water plus paper towel left fibers on the steel. A lightly oiled cloth removed them. Will update after first bake tonight.

Skip the pizza oven
High-quality plate that heats and holds temp superbly. Tried a new dough and it produced the best home pizzas I’ve made. Cooks in about 5–8 minutes; crispy bottom, fluffy sides. Easy to maintain—highly recommended.
