D'Addario Celluloid Guitar Picks — Assorted Light Guitar Picks
Product description
Light Gauge, Ready to Play: Each package contains ten celluloid picks in a light 0.50 mm thickness, ideal for players who favor flexible picks for strumming and softer attacks.
Material Background: Celluloid, one of the earliest plastics, was developed from treated cotton fibers and became a widely used substitute for natural tortoise shell in the early 20th century. It remains popular because it reproduces a warm, rounded tone and a smooth, natural hand-feel.
Shape and Handling: The included picks are the standard shape — a well-balanced profile that works for both strumming and individual-note picking. The form offers a comfortable hold with a defined tip for clear note articulation, while players can also flip to the fuller edge for a gentler attack.
Compatibility: These picks are intended for acoustic and electric guitars as well as bass, making them versatile accessories for a wide variety of musical situations.
Packaging and Quantity: Sold in ten-count packs, the packaging is designed to be compact with reduced waste. The set makes a handy accessory to keep in a gig bag, lesson case, or as a small gift for beginners and hobbyists.
Try Different Materials: If you want to explore tonal differences, there are many pick materials available. Classic and pearl celluloid deliver warmth and fullness. Duralin yields a bright, percussive click and strong articulation favored by lead players. Cortex mimics tortoise shell characteristics with crisp attack and excellent durability. Nyflex recalls vintage nylon picks with a flexible feel and warm tone. There are also glow-in-the-dark celluloid options that charge under light for stage visibility.
Use and Experimentation: Swapping pick materials and shapes is an easy way to alter tone and response—many musicians use different picks depending on instrument and style. This ten-pack of light celluloid picks is a low-commitment way to explore that tonal variety.
Pros
- Warm, natural tone from celluloid
- Comfortable standard shape for strumming
- Comes in a ten-count pack
Cons
- Light gauge may be too flexible for heavy attack
- Limited to standard shape only
- Not as long-lasting as some synthetic alternatives
VerdictThese celluloid picks deliver a classic, warm sound with a familiar tactile feel. The 0.50 mm gauge is well suited for strumming and light rhythmic work, and the standard profile gives enough surface for a secure grip and clear articulation. If you want an affordable, traditional-feeling pick set for everyday play or as a gift, this assortment performs reliably. Players who need thicker, ultra-rig

Always handy to have extras
I like having a variety of thicknesses on hand. Different gauges matter depending on what I'm playing.

Almost a full pack
I received nine picks instead of ten, but for the price I didn't bother exchanging. One was misprinted and only says "Classic." They feel very similar to my vintage thin Fender picks and are perfect for my lighter style of playing.

Comfortable, classic-feeling picks
These picks sit nicely in the hand and feel effortless to use. I appreciate the traditional material—celluloid has a long history as a go-to pick substance, replacing tortoise shell long ago. They sound warm and help keep older materials out of the ecosystem. Very pleased with them.

Dependable and comfortable
You can't beat these for the cost. They hold up well, look good, and feel great in hand. I prefer them over some firmer alternatives—comfortable and reliable.

Pleasant but a bit thick for me
Nice-feeling pick, though the listing didn't state the exact thickness. Better for picking than heavy strumming; I'd prefer a thinner one, but they're acceptable for solo work.

Typo in the listing but good for gentle strum
The product page mistakenly shows "50mm," but they're actually 0.50 mm light picks. I bought a large quantity because my daughter prefers blue ones; they all matched and play nicely. For delicate strumming they offer the right amount of flex.

Great performance, odd packaging
The picks do exactly what I wanted—light and playable. The only odd thing was an enormous box with a tiny bag tucked inside, but that was more amusing than bothersome. Good value overall.
