Marine
Marine Fuel/Water Separator Filter for Outboard Engines (3/8" Barb × 1/4" NPT)
Product description
This marine fuel/water separator is made to serve as a replacement for various outboard applications, notably many Mercury and Yamaha models. It includes an aluminum filter housing, a multi-layer 10-micron filter element, and a mounting bracket assembly. The package also contains brass fittings: 3/8-inch barb to 1/4-inch NPT adapters for inlet/outlet connections as shown in the product images.
Compatible part numbers cited for fitment include Mercury 35-60494-1, S3213, B32013, 18-7932-1, 18-7932, 18-7928-1, 18-7928, and service cross-references such as Mercury Marine 35-809097 and Yamaha MAR-24563-03-00, 18-7919, 18-7919-1. The bowl and bracket pieces correspond to common replacement brackets referenced by OEM numbers like 18-7922-1, 18-7922 and mounting bracket 18-7853-1.
The separator employs 3/8-inch NPT ports (noted for lower pressure drop) and captures particles and emulsified water before they reach fuel delivery components. The element filters to about 10 microns with reported efficiency exceeding 92% for particulate removal. The housing and fittings are constructed from durable aluminum and brass to resist corrosion in marine environments, and the sealing components are designed to minimize leaks under typical operating conditions.
Intended for inline fuel system use on gasoline outboards, this unit is installed between the fuel tank and the engine, or upstream of carburetors or fuel injectors. The bowl provides visual indication and a drain point for separated water. The seller provides a one-year customer support period. Buyers are advised to verify compatibility with their OEM diagrams and the product images prior to purchase.
Pros
- Aluminum body with brass fittings for corrosion resistance
- 10-micron multi-layer element removes most fine particles
- Includes mounting bracket and 3/8" barb × 1/4" NPT adapters
Cons
- Included fittings may not seal perfectly for every installation
- Bowl can be difficult to separate from the housing for service
- Some units have shown internal metal debris on first inspection
VerdictA sturdy, aluminum-housed fuel/water separator that matches multiple Mercury and Yamaha part numbers and ships with brass fittings and a mounting bracket. The 10-micron, multi-layer element is claimed to remove over 92% of particles down to 10 microns and will collect water and debris before they reach the engine. Good value for routine use, but some users report fitting leaks and difficulty separ

Saved the fuel tank
Didn’t have to dump the fuel tank on my old Cadillac or let the carburetor filter clog.

Internal debris found
Bought two; both were tightened very firmly and needed tools to remove. When opened they contained metal shavings. Still couldn’t get the bowl off the bottom housing.

Watch the supplied fittings
The stock fittings leaked on my install. They threaded in but didn’t seal reliably, so I bought replacements and plugs from a local hardware store to stop fuel seepage.

Sturdy but not service-friendly
Installed this in place of an OMC unit. Chose it over a known brand because it included the mount. It seems well built, but the bowl and the element are nearly impossible to separate from the bracket without damaging parts. If it performs through the season I’ll replace the whole assembly later.
