Welding
6x8 ft Fiberglass Heavy-Duty Welding Blanket and Curtain
Product description
Made from high-temperature fiberglass fabric, this welding blanket serves as a durable barrier against sparks, slag and radiant heat. The material is treated for flame resistance so it won’t catch fire easily and helps protect surrounding surfaces during cutting, grinding and welding operations.
The blanket measures 6 feet by 8 feet, giving ample coverage for flooring, walls or as a hanging partition. The edges are professionally hemmed to resist fraying, and the supplier has reinforced one side with 10 metal buckles spaced along the perimeter so you can fasten or suspend the blanket securely.
It is rated to tolerate temperatures up to approximately 1,000°F, allowing repeated use under high-heat conditions without rapidly degrading. Because of its thickness and construction it resists penetration from molten metal and sparks better than thin vinyl alternatives.
The piece is flexible and folds down for transport or storage, making it practical for both industrial job sites and home workshops. Use it as a floor protector, wall covering, temporary welding curtain or even as an auxiliary fire blanket in emergency or containment situations.
Heavy-duty in nature, these blankets are intended for repeated use across a range of tasks—welding, grinding, cutting and general hotwork—providing both property protection and an added safety layer around heat sources.
Pros
- High heat resistance (up to 1,000°F)
- Hemmed edges with 10 metal buckles for secure mounting
- Large 6x8 ft coverage and reusable
Cons
- Bulky and somewhat heavy to handle
- May require regular inspection for edge wear
- Not flexible like thin vinyl curtains
VerdictThis 6x8 ft fiberglass blanket is a robust, reusable barrier that shields floors, walls and work areas from sparks and spatter. With hemmed edges and ten metal buckles it’s easy to hang as a curtain or lay down as a protective pad. It tolerates extreme heat (up to 1,000°F) and folds for storage, though it is thick and a bit heavy. Overall a durable, multi-use safety accessory for shop and home pro

Well made, minor seam issue
Overall construction seems sturdy, but after several uses one edge started to fray at the seam.

Beats cheaper alternatives
Great build quality for the money. These are thick and protective but do feel heavy and bulky. We hung one from a post to split our shop into a welding zone and a woodworking area—no sparks got through. Chose these over other options and they’ve held up well to repeated use.

Protected the floor and wall perfectly
Needed coverage for a spiral iron stair repair. Laid it over the floor and against the wall while welding—no scorch marks or damage. Worth getting.

Solid spark and heat shield
Heavier than expected but blocks sparks and hot debris reliably. Feels far more durable than thin vinyl curtains. I’ve even used it laid over equipment to redirect heat rather than to wrap myself.
