Emerson SmartSet Dual Alarm Clock Radio — AM/FM, Jade LED Display
Product description
Auto time and date setup: The patented SmartSet mechanism programs the correct year, month, date, day and time as soon as the unit is powered and restores settings after interruptions. It automatically adjusts for daylight saving time and leap years so you rarely need to touch the clock.
Display and housing: A 0.9-inch jade-green LED offers large, easy-to-read digits with a four-step dimmer so you can lower brightness for sleep or boost it for daylight viewing. The clock sits in a compact plastic case designed to fit on a nightstand, desk, dorm shelf or in a guest room without taking much space.
Radio and tuning: Digital PLL AM/FM tuning provides stable reception and fewer drift issues compared with analog dials. Save up to 20 favorite stations for quick recall. The unit includes built-in AM and FM antennas to improve reception without extra wiring.
Alarms and everyday features: Two independent alarms can be set for different schedules and will wake you to either a chosen radio station or a buzzer tone. A snooze/repeat option gives extra minutes of sleep. Additional bedside conveniences include a programmable sleep-to-radio timer, front-mounted controls, digital volume adjustment and a quick month/date display button.
Backup power and reliability: A backup battery is included to maintain clock and alarm settings during short power outages so your alarm remains set. The simple controls and predictable behavior are aimed at users who want dependable daily performance rather than advanced connectivity.
Pros
- Automatic SmartSet time/date programming
- Clear .9" jade LED with four dim levels
- Dual alarms with radio or buzzer and snooze
Cons
- Basic audio quality, not high fidelity
- Top buttons lack backlighting
- 120V model — not universal for all regions
VerdictThis is a straightforward, no-frills alarm clock radio that excels at the basics: automatic time/date setup, easy-to-read jade LED, dual alarms with radio or buzzer wake, and a battery backup that preserves settings through power interruptions. The digital PLL tuner and 20 station presets simplify radio use, while the 4-level dimmer keeps the display from being intrusive at night. If you need Wi‑F

Surprisingly feature-rich for the cost
Offers features found on pricier models: automatic daylight-savings adjustment, AM/FM radio, clear display and battery backup. It does the job and the cost is very reasonable — I have no complaints.

If it worked before, it still does
Same brand as my old unit and it performs just as well. Reliable and familiar — it gets me up in the morning with the radio on.

Acceptable substitute for a pricier model
My Sony died and this was far cheaper. You get what you pay for: weaker sound and lower max volume, and you can’t program single-day alarms. Alarm programming takes a few steps. It’s adequate for now.

Straightforward, dependable bedside clock
Bought this for a nightstand and it’s been reliable. Time sets itself, two alarms are handy, and the green display isn’t too bright at night. Snooze works well and the battery backup is reassuring. Radio sound is okay but not impressive. Overall a solid basic alarm clock.

Frustrating setup; unit stopped working
Tried to set the time and after pressing some buttons the display started blinking, then the unit went dead. No obvious reset and the manual isn’t clear. Very confusing experience and now it won’t power on.

Nicht für Deutschland geeignet
Schönes Design, aber nicht nutzbar in Deutschland. Gerät ist für 120 V ausgelegt und zeigt nur US-Zeitzonen bis Hawaii an.

Economical radio alarm that mostly delivers
Good low-cost choice if you just need radio-as-alarm. Setup isn’t the most intuitive and the top buttons don’t light up, but it handles the essentials well. Someone else blamed a failure after months — likely a lost battery backup during an outage, not the clock itself. Not a smart, wifi unit, but for a basic alarm it’s fine.

Great small SmartSet clock radio
Compact and easy to operate. Display brightness is adjustable and the radio comes in loud and clear. Replaced a $60 unit and this works even better for my needs. SmartSet DST feature is very convenient.

Solid replacement but alarm controls are tricky
Needed a reliable, readable alarm and this fits the need. It’s dependable and sets itself, but I’m still figuring out how to turn the alarm off quickly when I don’t want it to sound.

Not suitable for the UK — expecting refund
Plugged it in and the display flickered then died. It’s a 120V unit so it won’t work on UK 240V supplies. This wasn’t clear on the listing; I’ve asked for a refund and am still waiting for a reply.
