Marine
Marine Throwable Foam Seat Cushion — Coast Guard Type IV Flotation
Product description
Included: One Coast Guard Type IV throwable foam seat cushion supplied with an outer cover and a sewn-in grab strap for quick deployment or retrieval.
Construction: The exterior is constructed from durable 200D polyester Oxford fabric. The grab strap is heavy-duty polypropylene webbing. The internal floatation is an expanded polyethylene (EPE) foam core made of 10 compacted layers, approximately 7 mm per layer, engineered to maintain buoyancy and resist waterlogging.
Fit and function: Sized to act as both a throwable rescue aid and a seat pad for most small craft, the cushion slips onto standard bench and bucket seats and fits well on kayaks, canoes, pontoons, aluminum boats and inflatables. It’s lightweight yet substantial enough to be easily hurled to a person in the water.
Where to use: Designed for marine and recreational settings — fishing boats, pontoon and aluminum boats, kayaks, docks, swimming areas, summer camps and as an emergency reserve in coastal homes or on ferries. It provides added floatation beyond personal life jackets and serves as a comfortable booster when not used for safety.
Durability and care: The polyester cover withstands exposure to sun and spray, and the foam core resists compression and moisture. The cover’s fitted corners and reinforced strap stitching keep the cushion looking tidy and secure during normal use.
Important note: This product is a Type IV throwable device only and is not intended to replace a wearable PFD. It does not substitute for Type I, II, or III life jackets and should only be used as a supplemental flotation aid in emergencies.
Pros
- USCG Type IV certified throwable
- Durable 200D polyester cover
- Multi-layer EPE foam for strong buoyancy
Cons
- Not a wearable life jacket
- Can be firm when used as a seat
- Single cushion included
VerdictA reliable throwable flotation cushion that meets USCG Type IV standards and also works as a convenient seat pad. The robust 200D polyester shell and multi-layer EPE foam deliver solid buoyancy and durability for recreational boats, while the polypropylene grab strap makes it simple to toss or retrieve. It’s not a wearable life jacket, but it’s an excellent emergency backup and comfortable perch f

Excellent value — very bright and easy to spot. Gave extra flotation in the sea and was comfortable to sit on.

Nice but a bit pricey
Good little throwable, just on the expensive side.

Sturdy and fits my canoe
Works great in my canoe. A bit firm when sitting, but they do the job and fit the seats nicely.

Solid, dependable throwable cushion
Very thick, firm foam and neat fitted corners. The strap feels secure and the cover looks durable. Photos are accurate and it would be easy to toss to someone in the water. Replacing our old cushion with this one.

Multiuse and very practical
Bought to top coolers and use on deck. They’re strong, sit well on coolers and the straps keep them from sliding. Thick, well made and easy to remove in an emergency.
